The question we get most from tradespeople is some version of "what is the catch?". So here is the whole model, in one place.
A lead costs you nothing. Being on the platform costs you nothing. There is no subscription for the marketplace, no commission on the value of your work, and no charge on the job today: the published completion rate is currently zero. If we ever earn from a job it will be at completion, never per lead, and the current rate is always published before you accept anything.
Why can we do that when the big directories cannot? Routing. A job goes to one tradesperson at a time, not to a list. The lead-generation model has to charge per introduction because it sells the same customer to several trades at once; most of them lose, and the losers still pay. We cannot sell a job twice, so there is nothing to charge losers for.
The trade-off is real and worth stating: you will see fewer leads here than a directory would send you, because each one is exclusively yours while you hold it. We think a smaller number of real chances beats a stream of auctions. If you disagree, the directories are still there, and our comparison pages set out their models factually so you can check our claims against your own numbers.
