Our founder shared his own Passport with a test account last month and saw three entries where his record holds nine. His first thought was the one anyone would have: it is broken.
It was not. Six of those entries had never been marked as shareable, and the platform withheld them exactly as designed. What was broken was the silence. The shared copy gave no hint that anything existed beyond the three, so the only available conclusion was a bug.
Two things changed as a result. A shared copy now states the count: six further entries on the owner's record are not included in this share. Counts only, never the entries themselves. And every eligible entry on the owner's own list carries a switch, shared or not shared, so the six that could never be opened before now can be.
The rule underneath is one we keep relearning in different clothes. Absence has to look like absence. A register we queried that returned nothing says so. A projection we cannot support says so. A share that withholds says how much. Silence is never neutral in a record; it always implies something, and usually the wrong thing.
