Most property data in this industry is self-declared. Someone typed it in, and everyone downstream takes it on trust. That works until the moment it matters, which is usually the moment somebody is deciding whether to spend money.
Three grades, not one badge
Every entry on a HomeLynx Passport carries an evidence grade. Verified, recorded, unconfirmed.
A job completed through a vetted trader is visibly different from something the owner typed in themselves. Both are useful. They are not the same thing, and a record that presents them identically is quietly lying by omission.
The grades are explained on a public page, so a buyer, a surveyor or a lender can see what each one means without asking us.
Why not just show the good ones
Because a record with the weak entries hidden looks complete and is not. The gap between what a house has had done and what can be shown is the whole problem we are trying to solve, and hiding it does not close it.
Showing an unconfirmed entry as unconfirmed does two useful things. It tells the reader how much weight to give it, and it tells the owner what would be worth firming up.
Tamper-evident, which is duller and more important
Service entries, the jobs a tradesperson records, are hash-chained and timestamped, so one cannot be quietly rewritten later to look better than it was. Nobody notices this feature working. It exists for the day somebody has a reason to doubt the record, because a history that can be edited after the fact is not a history.
